The couple, identified as Shyamamma and Yadaiah, were tied to a tree and beaten by the villagers.  A couple in Telangana was dangled from a tree and then caned by villagers in Telangana’s Sangareddy district on suspicion of practising witchcraft. The couple, identified as Shyamamma and Yadaiah, were thrashed by villagers. The incident took place in Kolkur village of the district. They were rescued by the police, who reached the spot after finding out about the incident. The couple sustained minor injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital. According to the police, a case has been registered against the villagers and further investigation is underway.

A case of kidnapping was registered on the complaint of the brother of the victim and investigation started, he said. Technical surveillance helped find the location of the girl at a place in Uttarakhand, Singh said.
